Program Overview

Optimizing Biologic Selection in Severe Asthma: Integrating Guidelines, Equity, and Patient-Centered Care is an enduring online CME/CE activity designed to improve clinician competence in biomarker-guided phenotyping, biologic selection, shared decision-making, and equitable severe asthma care. Through expert faculty education and immersive Conversational AI patient simulations, learners will engage in interactive, case-based experiences focused on guideline-concordant treatment selection, comorbidity management, culturally competent communication, and individualized care strategies for patients with severe asthma.

Target Audience

The primary audience for this activity includes pulmonologists, critical care specialists, and allergists/immunologists, as well as nurse practitioners and physician assistants who specialize in the diagnosis and management of severe asthma.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
  • Utilize understanding of severe asthma pathophysiology encompassing Type 2 inflammatory pathways, IL-5-mediated mechanisms, and biomarker-based phenotypic classification to guide precision medicine approaches in clinical practice.  
  • Employ biomarker-driven phenotyping approaches to determine appropriate candidates for biologic therapies, integrating recommendations from the GINA 2025 and CHEST 2025 guidelines along with novel therapeutic agents.  
  • Implement collaborative decision-making techniques that ensure biologic therapy selections reflect individual patient priorities and preferences within the context of severe asthma management.  
  • Apply systematic approaches for identifying and addressing comorbid conditions as part of an individualized treatment plan for patients living with severe asthma.  
  • Recognize social determinants of health that influence severe asthma outcomes.  
  • Develop actionable strategies to address inequities in care delivery.
